West Berkshire's carers celebrated at Sainsburys event
As part of the national Carers Week, which ran from Monday, June 10 to June 16, the store hosted the event to raise awareness of the work local carers do.
Representatives from Crossroads, Berkshire Carers, West Berkshire Alzheimer’s and West Berkshire Young Carers were in-store with an information stand to provide information to the store’s customers about the work of their charities.
The public relations ambassador for Sainsbury’s Newbury, Carol Irwin, said: “The event was really successful, really positive and well received.
“It was a platform where representatives could talk to people in store, and people could approach them.
“There are lots of hidden carers in the community, and it’s great to help them – to identify and support carers in our local community.”
In total, £20 was raised on the day through donations, and went straight to the charities present on the day.
