West Berkshire's going funny for money
It's Red Nose Day today (Friday) and Newbury Today would love to hear of your fundraising efforts for Comic Relief
WEST Berkshire has, once again, gone barmy for charity.
Today (Friday) is Red Nose Day and the Newbury Weekly News office has been inundated with pictures, story and pledges from people who did silly things for charity.
We've had everything from blokes who had their legs waxed to mums getting together for a long leisurely pram-walk in Victoria Park in the pouring rain.
The money is still being counted but, by all accounts, several thousand pounds will be going to the nationwide charity.
Some of the zanier events our photographers went to today included a 12-year-old lad from Thatcham who held a juggle-athon in Greenham Close, Thatcham and the ladies from Koulla Swann Concept & Spa Salon who did outrageous things to their own hair.
Then there was loads of fun at various schools around the area, including a classic boys vs. girls netball match at Park House School.
No charity drive would be complete without a bake sale either, and cakes of all shapes and sizes were available everywhere in the area.
If you want to see the fun everyone got up to, have a look at our picture gallery, but make sure to grab hold of a Newbury Weekly News on Thursday where we will have extensive coverage of everything that happened in the area.
But if you got involved yourself and did ‘something funny for money', why not send an email to eddie.vanderwalt@newburynews.co.uk with a couple of pictures and some detail of the event or call us on 01635 564 601 and we'll tell the world about it.
