What allot of winners




Winners of Newbury Allotment Awards announced

GREEN-FINGERED Newbury residents were recognised on Monday as the winners of the 2015 Allotment Awards were announced.

The winners were presented with a certificate by Mayor of Newbury Howard Bairstow during the meeting of the Community Services Committee at Newbury Town Hall .

A total of 20 awards were given out, including the best overall site, which went to Southby’s, and the Best Schools Plot, which was presented to Ellen Chadwick, 11 and Matthew Spillare, 11, from Falklands Primary School.

The full list of winners is:

Best Plot at Dairy Farm Allotments: 5 poles and under – Philip and Janet Knight; over 5 poles – Jillian Robinson.

Best Plot at One Tree Park Allotments: 5 poles and Under – Cheryl Nichol; over 5 poles – David Cole.

Best Plot at Parsons Allotments: 5 poles and Under – Gordon Hazell; over 5 poles – John Brazendale.

Best Plot at Southby’s Allotments: 5 poles and Under – Karina Mnich; over 5 poles – Bert Allison.

Best Plot at Wash Common Allotments: 5 poles and Under – Dill Delaney; over 5 poles – Maureen Dummett.

Best Plot at West Mills Allotments: 5 poles and Under – Patricia Paynter; over 5 poles – Stuart Forte.

Best Newcomers: Dairy Farm Allotments: Philip and Janet Knight; One Tree Park Allotments: James Bradshaw; Parsons Allotments: John Gerard Mooney; Southby’s Allotments: Rebecca Bellerby and Dominic Powys-Lybbe; Wash Common Allotments: Brian Burgess; West Mills Allotments: John Berry.

Best Site Overall: Southby’s.

Best School Plot: Falkland Primary School.
