Thursday, April 4
Treasure Hunt, Thatcham Library, 10.30am to noon – Navigate the ships through the treacherous sea and around the rocks using 2D grids to find the hidden treasure. Suitable for seven- to-- 11-year-olds. Free but places must be pre-booked. For more information and to book call (01635) 866049.
Friday, April 5
Unplugged Open Mic, ACE Space, 7pm – a packed fun night of acts with some newbies and regular favourites in the pipeline too. Doors and bar open at 7pm, show starts at 7.30pm.
Saturday, April 6
Aldworth Saturday Market, Aldworth Village Hall, Bell Lane, 10.30am to noon – Stalls include nearly new fine art books, second-hand books plus handmade cards and candles. Potluck fruit and vegetables, groceries, sweets plus teabar refreshments for 50p. Off-road parking available by village hall.
Holi Celebration, St Bartholomews School, 11am – Play with colours and enjoy snacks for the Holi Celebration.
Entry is £9 per person three years and above. £3 for below three years.
Newbury De-Stash Market, St Nicolas Church Hall, West Mills, 11am to 3pm, free entry – Try new crafts without breaking the bank. Cash required for refreshments and at some stalls. All profits from bookings and the café will be donated to Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
Jumble sale, Padworth Village Hall, Padworth, 2pm – In aid of St John Baptist Church in Padworth.
Sunday, April 7
Thatcham 10k, Lower Way start, 10am race start – The Thatcham 10k is a multi-terrain race around the Thatcham Lakes, Kennet and Avon Canal and South Thatcham, raising funds for the mayor of Thatcham’s charities.
41st Spring Bulb & Flower Show, Village Club, 35 North Street, Kingsclere, 2pm to 4pm – Refreshments available. Doors open at 9am for staging, judging commences at 11am. Choral Evensong, St Mary’s Church, Speen, 6pm – Beautiful music followed by refreshments, everyone welcome.
Wednesday, April 8
Berkshire Family History Society talk, West Berkshire Museum, Newbury, 2pm to 4pm – A face-to-face meeting and talk with Sue Ellis looking at the development of charity, national and British school provision in Thatcham. Entry free to members. Non-members are asked to donate £5 towards costs.
