What’s on in West Berkshire this week
Saturday
Coffee morning, Newbury Town Hall, 10am to 12pm.
Organised by Newbury Town Council D-Day 80th Anniversary Working Group to fundraise for events being held on June 6 at Greenham Control Tower.
Cold Ash Gardening Club spring show, Acland Hall, 2pm, free.
Different classes include flowers, floral arts and crafts, and there will also be a plant sale. Entry forms are available from Cold Ash Post Office, the club website or at the hall on the morning of the show. The hall will be open for exhibitors from 8am to 10am. Public viewing from 2pm.
Community open day, East Woodhay Village Hall, 2pm to 5pm.
Meet groups, societies and clubs from the local area. There will also be an Easter egg hunt, craft activities for children and refreshments.
Newbury mayor’s fundraising concert, Waterside Youth & Community Centre, 7pm to 10pm, £10.
The concert will feature performances from local artists Bruce Hogg, Project Band and The Rokkits. The charity concert will be supporting West Berkshire Homeless and The Mayor of Newbury’s Benevolent Fund. Sunday
Newbury and Thatcham Repair Café, Frank Hutchings Community Hall, 10am to 12.30pm.
Volunteers are offering to repair electronic and electrical items, clothing and textiles, small items of furniture and wooden objects, and other general household and garden items. Secateurs, knife and scissor sharpening are on offer plus mobile phone and IT advice/troubleshooting. Repairs are free, but donations are very welcome to enable future events to be held. One item per person. Refreshments available.
Prize bingo, Newbury Cricket Club, Northcroft Lane, 2pm.
Doors open from 2pm and eyes down at 3pm. Books cost £12 and flyers £1.50.
Chocolate and craft market, Mary Hare School, 2pm to 4pm, free.
Chocolate, crafts and gifts to be sold, alongside games such as a raffle, tombola and refreshments. Raising money for the school’s youth club.
Thursday
Burghclere and Newtown WI Easter coffee morning, St Nicolas Church, Newbury, 10am to 12pm.
There will be a bric-a-brac stall, tombola, Easter cake raffle, home made cake stall as well as tea, coffee, cakes and hot cross buns. In aid of St John’s Ambulance and British Heart Foundation to fund life saving courses on CPR and defibrillator training.
