Friday

Burghclere Baroque concert, Church of the Ascension, Church Lane, 7pm, ticket price £10 to £25 at your discretion.

The baroque quintet Ceruleo will be performing “Voices of longing”, a selection of love songs by the 17th-century Venetian composer Barbara Strozzi. Under-18s free but also need a ticket. Tickets include a glass of wine or soft drink after the concert. Seating will not be allocated in advance and will be unreserved so please arrive in good time to secure the best seats. Newbury Pride Drag Bingo, Thatcham Rugby Club, Henwick Lane, 7.30pm to 11pm, £15 advance, £16 on the door.

Join us for a fabulous night of bingo, drag performances, and plenty of fun. Get ready to dab your way to some amazing prizes while being entertained by our fabulous drag queen Wilma Fingadoo. This event is all about celebrating diversity, inclusivity, and having a great time together.

Saturday

Book sale, Wash Common Community Library, Glendale Avenue, 10am to noon.

Come and join the library and help it to raise money to keep open by buying excess stock books on sale. Including nearly new books, children’s books, fiction, non-fiction, paperbacks and hardbacks.

Jumble sale, Padworth Village Hall, Padworth Lane, 2pm.

In aid of The Hospital Radio at Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Thatcham Mum2mum market, Thatcham Catholic Hall, Bath Road, £2 entry, kids go free.

The usual bargains will be available. A marvellous mix of essential clothing, toys, games, books, puzzles, baby equipment and more. Cash only.

Sunday

Choral evensong, St Mary’s Church, Speen, 6pm.

Beautiful music followed by refreshments. Everyone is welcome.

Monday

World Hearing Day advice event, Newbury Town Hall, 10am.

Three short talks on hearing, tinnitus and dementia. Organised by independent audiologist Tracy James Hearing.

Tuesday

Kintbury Wildife Group meeting, Coronation Hall, Inkpen Road, 7.30pm, £3.

Lifelong bird enthusiast Ailsa Claybourn presents ‘The birds in your garden’, giving a fresh perspective on our familiar species and their behaviour.
