Green Halloween, Discovery Centre, Thatcham, 11am to 4pm. Mr. Alexander's travelling show is at the centre with his unique and captivating blend of magic, juggling, unicycling, balance and illusion. Meet representatives of the local wildlife trust, and the RSPB. Make a bird box to take home, learn how to identify tracks and trails and help the Mammal Society with a national survey. Halloween Craft Activity, Mortimer library, 10am to midday. Learn how to make spiders from eggboxes and pipecleaners, decorating creepy house shapes and making simple cat masks. The Ghost Stories of MR James, Arlington Arts, 8pm. Join in for a chilling night of Victorian Gothic Horror by one of the masters of the genre, M. R. James. Robert Lloyd Parry brings to life two of James' very best including Oh, Whistle and I'll Come To You My Lad - a tale of nocturnal horror on the Suffolk coast, which won Parry the 2007 Dracula Society prize for best performance in the Gothic genre.
