What's occurring in Beenham

The Beenham community came together for a celebratory weekend.

Outdoor Academy’s climbing wall posed a welcome challenge on the Recreation Ground recently.

Children and adults tested their confidence scaling the wall and enjoyed surprisingly good weather.

Among the climbers were three men with a combined age of 206 years.

The Beenham School Parents, Teachers and Friends Association provided refreshments, a raffle and a flower auction from the Mad Hatter flower shop in Aldermaston.

This year's Beenham in Bloom prizes were presented to the adult winners by Moira Hopes, co-owner of The Six Bells Beenham, and by Tony Roe to the child winners.

Beenham Pre-School received the Edwin Roe Memorial Cup for best floral entry.

The Roe family presented the award personally in memory of Edwin Roe, who attended Beenham School and died of coronavirus.

Residents said they extended their warmest thanks and gratitude to the organisers and to The Six Bells Beenham, Englefield Garden Centre, Rosebourne and the Thatcham Garden Centres for donating the prizes.
