Aldworth bazaar, Corn Exchange carols, quilting and food tasting

ALDWORTH bazaar, carols at Newbury's Corn Exchange and quilting are among a huge line-up of things to do in Newbury and beyond today (Sat).

Aldworth bazaar and turkey tasting is from 9.30am to 12pm - with Santa expected at 11am, at Aldworth Village Hall

More stalls to browse in Speen, at a Christmas Bazaar at St Mary’s Church, from 1pm to 4pm. Grand draw with festive prizes, decorations, tombola, Santa’s grotto with ‘Kids write a letter to Santa’, produce, seasonal refreshments, bulbs, nearly new stall, and much more. Ample parking, admission free.

Local food tasting and a preview of Christmas produce and food gifts at Headley Community Shop, The Old Baptist Chapel, Thornford Road, Headley. 10am to 12.30pm. Free admission, no booking required.

A Market Square Quilters club day is from 9.30am to 3.30pm, at St George’s Hall, 206 Andover Road, Wash Common, Newbury, with speakers and traders. Cost £10 members, £13 visitors. Call Caroline Ward (01635) 846991 or emaicaroline2226@gmail.com

Victoria Park Nursery host a drop-in open day, from 10am to 1pm, with indoor and outdoor play and chance to make Christmas decorations. Refreshments available.

Lantern Making for the Brave (make an elaborate lantern), is from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm, at 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space, Greenham Business Park. Free, but booking required. Box office 0845 218218

For football fans, this afternoon at 3pm, Hungerford Town FC take on Wealdstone FC, at Bulpit Lane, Hungerford.

Hockey matches at Henwick start at 11am, including Newbury 1 versus Maidenhead.

A 3pm rugby match, Newbury Stags versus Henley, is at Monks Lane

Relax later this evening with Carols at the Corn Exchange. The Salvation Army Annual Carol Concert starts at 7.45pm, at Corn Exchange, in Newbury's Market Place, admission £9. Box office 0845 5218218

Newbury Chamber Choir completes its cycle of Bach’s four short Masses and is joined by a prize-winning young cellist from Sweden, Lydia Hillerudh, to play Haydn's ever-popular concerto.
