What's on in West Berkshire and North Hampshire: Civil War history at Shaw House, Lacrosse Club opening in Newbury and Burghclere Miniature Railway fundraiser for Ukraine

Saturday 12
Civil War at Shaw House, Newbury 11am-4pm. Immerse yourself in history with a day out in the 17th Century with The Earl Rivers Regiment Muster (Members of The Sealed Knot). Discover what life was like for those who had to take up arms against their fellow countrymen. Witness soldiers training to use swords, muskets and pikes and visit some of the tradesmen and civilians who accompanied the armies. Plus Living History demonstrations inside Shaw House. Free
Phoenix Lacrosse Club, St Bartholomew's, Buckingham Road, Newbury, official opening with Mayor of Newbury, from 10.15am. Includes short demonstration match. Event runs to 11am, ending with hot chocolate for all.
And Sunday 13 Centenary exhibition and book launch for Kingsclere trainer John Porter, Kingsmill Room, St Mary’s Church, Kingsclere. Saturday 12noon-5pm, Sunday 12.30pm-5pm. Books £5 this weekend only, £1 from each book sold to St Mary’s Church funds.

Burghclere Miniature Railway Family Running Day, Burghclere Sports and Social Club, 11am-3pm. First Family Run Day of the year. Steam engines running for £1 a ride and barbecue, club bar and facilities. All profits on teh day are being donated to the British Red Cross for DEC Ukraine humanitarian appeal.
