Lamb feeding, historic walks, food fairs and more

An afternoon of free fun and games is being held at Speen Recreation Ground, including retro sports races, tug of war competitions and bouncy castles.

Children can also bring their own bikes to take part in short cycle races, and refreshments will be available.

The event will run from 1.30pm till 3.30pm at the recreation ground on Station Road.

The Ashamstead spring food and local produce fair will open at 10am, offering a range of local produce from bread, chocolates and fudge, liqueurs, cider, local cut flowers and garden plants, hand-made jewellery and trinkets.

A barbecue and other refreshments will be available, using Vicars Game sausages and bacon.

Admission costs £1 in aid of the Village Hall Refurbishment fund.

It is the last day that submissions for Newbury’s Giant Easter Egg Hunt can be entered.

Collect your entry form from either Newbury Visitor Information Centre or The Easter Zone in Parkway and then follow the trail of clues to find the giant eggs, decorated by some of the local primary schools and nurseries.

Entries must be returned to the Easter Zone by 4pm today to be in with the chance of winning a prizes, including a £250 John Lewis at home voucher.

You can still help out with feeding the lambs at Bucklebury Farm Park.

Bottle feeding takes place every two hours with the first session for our visitors to take part in starting at 10.15am.

Admission to the park costs £9.45 for adults, £8.45 for children and seniors, £7 for disabled customers and for carers accompanying them, and under two’s free. Family tickets cost £32.50.

At 10.30am, a two-hour guided walkabout on Freeman’s Marsh, Hungerford, will set off.

It is free to take part, and those going along will learn more about wildlife and rare plants found there. Guests are asked to meet outside St Lawrence Church in Parsonage Lane.
Tadley and Baughurst Art Club will be celebrating three decades of friendship through art, at a charity fundraising exhibition this weekend.

The club’s 30th Anniversary Art Exhibition will open at 11am today (Saturday) at the Amrbose Allen Centre, Franklin Avenue, Tadley, and will feature more than 80 original paintings and there will be crafts including ceramics, silk scarves and suncatchers.

Entry is free, with donations going to St Michael’s Hospice, Basingstoke.

From 2pm, budding gardeners can visit the Cold Ash Horticultural Society Spring Show at the Fisher Room in the village church.

The event will include flowers, foral art, handcraft and junior classes and (weather dependant) a plant stall.
