Thames Valley Ancient Egypt Society will be holding a lecture at Oakwood Centre, Headley Road, Woodley RG5 4JZ at 2pm. Iconography and Ideology of Nefertiti and the Amarna royal women by Lucia Gahlin will exploring Amarna art and the latest
archaeological evidence. Lucia will trace the development of Nefertiti’s image, and her political and cultic status, within the context of the significance of women in Akhenaten’s court and religion. The event is free to members with visitors welcome, a £3 donation invited.
Lady Nade will be performing at the Arlington Arts Centre, 8pm, for tickets call box office (01635) 244246, while fans of swing will be able to enjoy the Rat Pack Live at the Corn Exchange, Newbury from 7.45pm, contact box office on 0845 5218218.
The Eight Bells for mental health coffee morning will be held at Newbury Town Hall, from 10am till noon where you can pop in for a cup of tea and homemade cake and support a local mental health charity.
Petrolheads can go along to the Pangbourne College Classic Car Show from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free and refreshments, including tea, coffee and food, will be available on the day for a small charge.
Alternatively, visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic and enjoy the picturesque college grounds.
Pangbourne Quality market will be held at Pangbourne Village Hall from 10am-4pm. Refreshments will be available. There will 30 stalls, including fine foods, clothing, hand-crafted jewellery, ceramics, fine art and luxury gifts – the stallholders are all local cottage industries and craftsmen. The market’s chosen charity is RSPCA. No admission fee, but customers can donate to the charity at the door. Pay and Display car park outside the hall.
