Get up close and personal with bats

GET up close and personal with bats in Lambourn this evening (Sat) - with plenty else, from sports fixtures, antiques to browse, or leg-stretchers in Newbury and beyond today.

Sheepdrove Eco Conference Centre, Lambourn, will host an international bat evening and barbecue from 7.30pm, tickets £10, must be booked in advance, telephone (01488) 674737.

At 2pm, cricket fans can take their choice between three matches, including Thatcham V Finchampstead at Thatcham Cricket Club, Brownsfield Road, Newbury V Royal Ascot at Northcroft Lane, Newbury, or East Woodhay V Hook, in East End.

Football fans should head to Waterside Park for the 3pm kick-off of Thatcham Town V Guildford City.

For some fresh air and family fun, explore Paices Wood Country Parkland , near Aldermaston, from 11am to 3pm, free entry, donations welcome.

Under fives will be entertained at Newbury library's storytime this afternoon, from 2.30pm to 3pm, free of charge.

Also at Newbury Library from 3.30pm to 4.30pm is cool craft, a free drop-in session for over sevens.

Over in Hungerford, Jay Fairs Antiques Fair is from 8.30am to 4pm. Admission £1.

Relax from 6pm this evening at Hungerford's ale and music festival, hosted by the Hungerford Club, at The Croft.
