NEWBURY firefighters will be working up a lather at a charity car wash today.

Firefighters at Newbury’s Hawthorn Road station will be putting their hoses to an alternative use, to raise funds for both the Firefighters Charity and Children with cancer UK.

The event takes place from 10am to 4pm, at Newbury Fire Station.

It is suggested that customers make a donation of £5.

Also today, East Shefford will will be holding its duck derby.

It costs £2 to sponsor a duck and tickets are available from the Swan Pub, the social club and The Garage Shop.

A treasure hunt and teas will be held in the village hall after the race.

A Storytelling night will be held at the West Berkshire Museum at 7pm.

Tonight's installment is Streets paved with gold with Victor Richards.

Doors and cafe open at 6.15pm and tickets cost £6.
