It’s fun and flexing in West Berkshire today, as the Thatcham Family Fun Day comes to town, alongside the Armed Forces and the Strongmen of Newbury.

The Fun Day promises traditional children’s fun races, live music, a vintage car show, fun fair and a host of stalls, games and refreshments organised by local charities and organisations.

The free event runs from 11am until 4pm at Henwick Worthy Sports Ground.

Newbury will also pay thanks to its serving armed forces personnel today with a chance to support the nation’s military at the Armed Forces Day.

Former and future members of the armed forces will form up at Wharf Street and march to the town hall at around 10.25am.

The Rev Keri Eynon will lead a service to honour service personnel before marching to the Legion club in Pelican Lane where a barbeque and entertainment will be provided.

There will also be another breed of muscle as the strongman competition enters its second and final day.

At noon England’s Strongest U105s – regional qualifiers weighing in at under 105kg will be showing off their six packs at Northbrook Street.

For cyclists Inkpen’s Gibbet Challenge – a scenic 10km multi-terrain race starts at 9am from the Memorial Playing Fields.

Entry to the main race is £10 for unaffiliated riders and for the kids race which starts after the main event entrance is free.

For the gastronome’s of Newbury a food and craft fair will also be in the town centre between 10am and 4pm.
