Shaw wedding fair, sports fixtures and leg stretchers
A colourful fundraising calendar, bursting with Berkshire scenes, will be on sale at a spectacular wedding fair at Shaw House today (Sunday), sales of which will help boost funds for a new local children's hospice.
Sport, rambles and exhibitions are among a host of other things to do locally.
An ideal Christmas present, the calendar is the latest idea of Beedon's Holly George, aged 13, who has a life-limiting condition and to boost her Hugs for Holly campaign funds, It includes 12 images reflecting the Berkshire area, on sale at the fair, alongside some 35 wedding fair stalls to browse. Sports fans should head out early today to a 9.30am netball match at Kennet.
For a morning ramble in the fresh air, West Berkshire ramblers meet at 10am at Bradley Moor square (grid reference SU524680), for a six mile walk through Holly Wood to the Slade, returning via Upper Bucklebury and Wimble Wood.
This afternoon, Thatcham Festival Bird walk takes place at the Nature Discovery Centre, Lower Way, from 2pm to 4pm. Free of charge, dress for a muddy walk.
This evening sees a harvest festival thanksgiving, at St Mary's Church, Aldworth, as part of the 700 year celebrations, with seasonal refreshments afterwards.
