HEAD along to Thatcham Town Football Club to help a little boy with a life-changing condition.

Harrison Loosen was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, a hereditary condition that leads to the weakening and wasting of muscles, just after his fourth birthday in November last year.

His family has organised a charity football
tournament and fun day to raise money into researching a cure for their young son.

The event will be held at Thatcham Town
Football Club on Sunday.

Family activities at the event include a charity auction and raffle, a bouncy castle, face-painting, barbecue and bar. Kick-off is at 11am.

All donations go to Hope4Harrison, which is raising money for Becker muscular dystrophy research at Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Also today will be Newbury Talks, Balcony Bar, Corn Exchange, 3pm to 4pm: Superforecasting: The People Who Predict the Future with Michael Story, senior consultant for The Good Judgment Project, a company which is refining "the wisdom of crowds" to make future predictions for use by large organisations.

The talk will touch on subjects from the group's own forecasts for Brexit, to whether North Korea will drop a nuclear bomb, to guessing the weight of an ox at a country fair.

Mr Story studied in London and Moscow.

He said: “Many ordinary people can predict the future much more accurately than the average. Now a group of us have been identified and brought together to see what we can achieve.”

The original project was funded by the United States research agency, IARPA (the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity).
