WITH the floods starting to slowly subside, the weather forecast looking mainly dry and half term weekend - there is plenty of reasons to get out and about and enjoy a range of events today (Sat).
Catch the Bantam Society Open Show at Northcroft Leisure Centre from 10am to 5pm.
There will be the opportunity to see more than 1,500 bantams, as well as bantam ducks and more than 200 plates of eggs.
There will be more than 40 different bantam breeds present, from Anconas to Yokohamas.
In addition there will be more than 200 birds for sale, as well as trade stands selling books and poultry supplies.
For those more interested in politics than poultry, the Liberal Democrats will be hosting their conference at the Arlington Arts centre, Mary Hare today.
Local councillors will be in attendance and the event will feature a special talk from Ryan Coetzee, special adviser to Nick Clegg.
The snowdrops at Welford Park have survived the weather and are once again on display - with owner of the land insisting they are at their absolute best in the middle of February.
The sight is enjoyed by thousands of visitors throughout the winter months. Over many years and generations, it has been tradition to open the grounds during February so the spectacle can be enjoyed.
The grounds are open from 10am to 4pm and tickets are priced as follows: Adults £6, Concessions £5, Children 4-16yrs £1. Children under 4 go free.
