Live music among events in West Berkshire

LIVE music is the order of the day today.

If you fancy some free music while enjoying the picturesque surroundings of Newbury, Phoenix Brass Band will be playing from 3pm to 5pm in the Bandstand at Victoria Park.

At the Old Bluecoat School in Thatcham, Jenny Broome and Frances Mason will be in concert from 4pm.

Frances Mason, violinist of the Rasumovsky Quartet and the Tagore String Trio, joins harpist Jenny Broome to explore the repertoire of the popular Victorian Eissler sisters, for whom Saint-Saens wrote his Fantaisie, including music by Wagner and Spohr.

Refreshments before the concert will be available from 3.30pm. Tickets available from Newbury Building Society, High Street, Thatcham, or on the door. £10 per adult, £5 for school aged child.
