Wheelchair basketball star to join Clare Balding in Olympic parade at Newbury show

Michaela (Kayla) Bell, who has had cerebral palsy since birth, represents the South East in her sport, and has her sights set firmly on the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
Kayla will join other local talented youngsters representing a variety of sports in the special Olympic parade with Clare on Sunday, September 16.
Ms Balding, who was born in Kingsclere just a few miles from the Newbury Showground, said: "I passionately believe in identifying and encouraging sporting talent in young people.
‘Inspire a generation’ was the Olympic motto and I’m so pleased that we’ll be reflecting that at this year’s Berkshire Show.”
Kayla has been a member of Thames Valley Kings – the Thatcham-based wheelchair basketball club – since she was just eight.
She is one of the stars of the junior team, and also plays in the national adult league.
Assistant coach Denise Drammis, said: “Kayla has gone from strength to strength, growing in confidence and ability. "She struggles with balance and grip, but the sport has made a massive difference.
"Kayla has great potential – she was part of our under 15 team when we made it to the junior league finals and has represented the South East in the National Junior Championships.
"I have no doubt she has the capability to become one of the heroes of future Paralympic Games.”
