Whitway community spirit brings collie back home
Dog returns after ordeal
Community spirit helped return missing pet pooch Blue home to a heartbroken family over the Easter weekend.
Owner Jules Baldwin, of Whitway, said the six-year-old border collie went missing on Thursday evening when he took himself out for an impromptu and unescorted wander.
Speaking to the Newbury Weekly News this week, she thanked all those who helped search for Blue in the days that he was missing.
She said: “We live in a very sparsely populated part of North Hampshire, but with the help of our neighbours, a sighting on Saturday night raised our hopes of finding him.
“After many hours of walking and calling across the Sydmonton Estate, a phone call was received to say that Blue had turned up at home on Sunday, battered, bruised, tired and hungry.”
All the efforts and phone calls received, she continued, had re-established their faith in the kindness of neighbours.
She added: “Our family wish to express sincere thanks to neighbours for all their help in searching for our dog over the Easter break.”
