Reading Magistrates' Court: Thatcham rail cheat's whopping bill
A RAIL cheat has been landed with a £666.50 bill... for trying to avoid a £2.50 fare.
Leah Sinclair was due in the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Friday, October 14.
The 22-year-old, of Almond Drive, Thatcham, was accused of travelling on a Great Western Railway (GWR) service from Reading to Reading West without paying her fare and with the intention of avoiding payment.
But she did not turn up.
The case nevertheless went ahead in her absence and was found proved.
Ms Sinclair was fined £440.
Then she was ordered to pay £180 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £44.
Finally, Ms Sinclair was ordered to pay GWR £2.50 for the lost fare.
