Sainsbury’s raised £11.4m for Comic Relief in 2011, and this year staff have come up with some fun schemes to try to exceed this.
Workers will be running ‘the cheeky chopstick challenge’ and ‘guess the number of noses’ competitions in the build-up to Red Nose Day on March 15, when staff will dress-up as film and book characters and local scout groups will be packing bags.
Official merchandise, including three different red noses, mugs, badges, wrist bands and deely-boppers, are already on sale, with at least half of the profits going to the worldwide charity.
Deputy store manager Ryan Steadman said: “Newbury store colleagues are proud of our involvement with Comic Relief and we hope we can raise lots of money this year.
"Red Nose Day is also a great opportunity for us all to have some fun.”
