'Wildebeasts' in Ecchinswell in run up to bank holiday May Fayre
The Royal Oak pub in the village is hosting the traditional May Fayre, to raise charity funds for the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance and St Michael's Hospice Basingstoke.
In the run up to the fayre, a Build a Beast competition is being held for the best 'wildebeast' - model of a jungle animal - examples of which are dotted around the village, including a crocodile in the village pond and a variety of other large 'animals' , and other models in various gardens and which can be spotted in passing, from the roadside.
The pub will then host the host the May Fayre on Sunday (May 4), which sees a return of the popular Bake Off, along with a tug o' war, gunge tank, plate smashing and Punch and Judy.
A boat race and all afternoon barbecue will take place alongside traditional games, with human table football and a 'pre-loved' handbag stall.
Live music will also entertain, with craft stalls to browse, followed by a hog roast in the evening.
The May Fayre is from 1pm until late at The Royal Oak pub, Ecchinswell.
