Will you be celebrating your diamond wedding next year?
West Berkshire Council is hosting a special celebration for couples celebrating 60 years of marriage next year
COUPLES celebrating their diamond wedding next year are being urged to contact West Berkshire Council so that they can participate in a special luncheon.
The council is urging local residents to contact them if they are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary next year, in the same year that the Queen marks her 60 year reign.
West Berkshire Council will mark the Queen's diamond jubilee with a celebratory luncheon hosted by the chairman of the council.
The idea follows the success of nearly 20 street parties taking place in the district for the recent royal wedding.
Councillor Peter Argyle, current West Berkshire Council chairman, said: "As so many of us enjoyed celebrating the royal wedding recently, I hope that the diamond jubilee next year will be just as popular.
“I am very keen that local residents who are celebrating their own special day have the opportunity to join us in marking the royal anniversary."
The Queen's diamond jubilee takes place on Tuesday, June 5 next year and will be a Bank Holiday.
Anyone who knows of a couple in the district who will be marking their happy occasion next year should urge them to get in touch with the council by calling 01635 519125 or email pr@westberks.gov.uk
