Window blows off hinges in high winds in Theale

Firefighters lower glass pane to safety at business park

Firefighters lowered a window blown off its hinges in high winds to safety at a Theale business park this afternoon (Tuesday).

One fire engine plus an aerial ladder platform was called at 1.30pm from Dee Road Fire Station in Tilehurst, to Arlington Business Park, where a 4ft by 3 ft window had been blown off its hinges in the wind and was hanging perilously from a first floor window.

Firefighters removed and secured the window, before placing it on the aerial ladder platform and lowering it to the ground unbroken.

"If it had fallen on someone it would probably have killed them!" said a firefighter at the scene.

No-one was hurt, or evacuated during the incident.
