Wolf cubs arrive at Beenham
Three hand-reared cubs - the first Arctic wolves in the UK - have arrived at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust
THE UK Wolf Conservation Trust has announced the arrival of three wolf cubs at their centre in Beenham, the first of their kind in Britain.
The three hand-reared cubs, sent to enhance the centre's education programme, are the first Arctic wolves in the UK.
The trio arrived on June 28 but will remain in quarantine for six months.
Those wishing to catch a glimpse of them before January can do so at the trust's open days on August 29 and October 2.
The pups, named Massak, Pukak and Sikko, meaning soft snow, fine snow and ice, have been named from the Labradoran Inuit language.
Born in Canada during the worst snowstorm of the winter, by the time staff were able to shovel the snow away from mother Roxy and her pups they were all very ill.
One died and the others were taken into intensive care.
