Thames Valley Police seek witnesses after woman attacked during attempted robbery in Goring




Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Goring at around 7.10pm yesterday (Saturday).

The incident occurred in an alleyway between Farm Road and Lockstile Way.

While walking through the alleyway, a 48-year-old woman was approached from behind by an unidentified man, who grabbed her handbag and tried to pull it from her.

The victim was punched in the back by the perpetrator, who failed in his attempt to take the bag and ran off.

The perpetrator is described as white with dark eyes, and stands between 5ft 8in and 6ft tall.

At the time of the attack, he was wearing a black hooded jumper and black snood.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Richard Whitcombe - based at Abingdon police station - said: "This was a distressing incident for the victim in this case.

"We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything or has information about this incident.
