Woman barred from supported housing schemes
Court injunction for defendant who preyed on vulnerable in Hungerford
A WOMAN who preyed on elderly and vulnerable Hungerford residents has been made subject to a court injunction.
It means that 52-year-old Anouchka Dolbey can be immediately arrested if she returns to Sovereign South+West's supported housing schemes in the town.
The order was made in Newbury County Court on June 20 and prevents Ms Dolbey, who lives in London Road, Newbury, from harrassing residents in, or even visiting: Fairfields, Fairview Road, Northview Heights, eight named properties in High Street and one in Lancaster Square.
The injunction states: “The court is satisfied that the relevant conduct consists of or includes the threat of violence and/or there is a significant risk of harm to a person mentioned.”
Ms Dolbey attended the hearing but did not contest the injunction application made by Sovereign South+West.
The injunction lasts until June 12 next year and carries the power of immediate arrest.
Anti-social behaviour advisor for Sovereign South+West, Rebecca Horne, said afterwards: ““Her visits to our supported housing schemes in Hungerford frequently resulted in the police being called to get her to leave and the residents asked for our help in resolving this problem.
“As a responsible landlord, it was really important to protect our vulnerable residents from this person, who had caused harm to some of them. We hope we won't have to enforce this civil injunction, but if she does come back to our addresses in Hungerford, residents or staff can call the police and they will have the power to arrest her.”
She added: “Our advice to residents would be not to let anyone into your home who you do not want to be there. Be wary of people who may try to befriend you and who don't seem to have their own place to stay. This is especially true if they are under the influence of alcohol.”
Although Ms Dolbey is not a Sovereign tenant, the housing association does have the power under the Housing Act 1996 to ask for an injunction against anyone who affects the management of its properties.
