Newbury woman charged in connection with death of one-month old child




A woman has been charged in connection with the death of a one-month old baby in Newbury last year.

Chantelle Stroud, aged 25, of Ashridge Court, Newbury, was charged today (Tuesday) with one count of causing or allowing the death of a child, and one count of assault, ill-treatment, neglect, or abandoning a child to cause unnecessary suffering.

The charge is in connection with the death of one-month-old Colby Lawton, which occurred on May 9, 2020 in Newbury.

She will appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court today.

James Lawton, aged 27, of Boreham Field, Warminster, Wiltshire, was charged with one count of murder and one count of GBH with intent in relation to Colby's death on May 25 this year.
