Reading Magistrates' Court: Thatcham woman is rail cheat

A THATCHAM woman has pleaded guilty to being a rail cheat.

On Friday, December 17, Emma Louise Alexander, was sentenced at Reading Magistrates’ Court.

The 32-year-old, of Spackman Close, had admitted travelling on a Great Western Railways (GWR) train at Thatcham on Saturday, June 5, without previously having paid the £7.30 fare and with the intention of avoiding that payment.

Ms Alexander was fined £140.

In addition, she was ordered to pay £180 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £34.

Finally, Ms Alexander was ordered to pay GWR £7.30 in compensation for the lost fare.
