Woman cut free from car in collision near Compton

A WOMAN was cut free from a car this morning (Tues) in a collision near Compton.

According to the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS), two fire engines, from Newbury and Tilehurst were called at 10.16am to a two-vehicle collision, in Ilsley Road.

A woman was trapped in one of the cars and was cut free by firefighters.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) sent a paramedic and ambulance to the scene at 10.07, after receiving a report of a collision involving two cars, and after one car had left the road and ended up in a ditch.

"We had a female patient with a neck injury in the car in the ditch," said David Gallagher, an SCAS spokesman.

The woman was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, in Reading.

A man also received medical attention at the scene for minor injuries.

Firefighters left the scene at 11.18am.

Police were also at the scene.
