Woman cut from car after accident

The driver was taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon with suspected back and neck injuries

A WOMAN in her twenties had to be cut from her car following a crash on the A338 near Hungerford at the weekend.

The driver was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon with suspected back and neck injuries after her black Vauxhall Corsa left the A338 at Eddington Hill and crashed into bushes just before 7am on Saturday.

Crews from Newbury and Hungerford used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the vehicle's roof to free her.

The driver was later released from hospital with bruising only despite the hitting trees and a telephone pole before going into the ditch.

The road was closed while fire crews were at the scene and was reopened at 9.03am.
