Woman killed and two airlifted following A4 collision yesterday (Wednesday)
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene near the A4 junction with Milkhouse Road in Marsh Benham at around 10.40am, after the 69-year-old's vehicle, a black Vauxhall Corsa, was involved in a collision with another car.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her next of kin have been informed.
A 23-year-old woman and her infant passenger were both airlifted to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital after firefighters had to free them from their grey Audi A4.
Officers described the woman as being in a serious but stable condition yesterday, while the uninjured infant was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police believe that the woman and the child were also from Thatcham.
The road was closed for more than seven hours in both directions yesterday to allow police to carry out an investigation and to recover the vehicles.
Anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the incident, or the collision itself, are being urged to contact senior investigating officer, Richard Thorpe of the Roads Death Investigation Team via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
