Woman taken to hospital after Love Lane collision

Road was closed in both directions

A woman was taken to hospital following a collision between a Porsche and a van carrying diesel on Love Lane yesterday (Fri).

The incident, which happened shortly before 4pm, closed the road in both directions (picture by Ben Wood) and caused rush hour delays.

Firefighters from Newbury had to cut the roof off the Porsche and free the woman from the vehicle.

The woman, believed to be in her forties, was subsequently taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. The extent of her injuries are not currently known.

Paramedics and police also attended the scene and the road was shut for around two hours.

A spokeswoman for the South Central Ambulance Service, Michelle Archer, said a rapid response crew were sent after receiving a call at 3.58pm.
