Beenham Women’s Institute unveils huge poppy display for 80th anniversary commemorations of VE Day




A Women’s Institute has worked tirelessly to unveil a waterfall of poppies on the village green for the 80th anniversary commemorations of VE Day.

Members of Beenham Women’s Institute have been busy over the past few weeks preparing a display of poppies.

Friends, family and various groups have helped to make the poppies using felt, knitting and crocheting.

Even 91-year-old veteran Alan Wheatley knitted many poppies and helped to add them to the display.

The display has been erected outside Beenham Primary School and has been well received within the village.
