Woolhampton man convicted for burglary

The 25-year-old will be sentenced at a later date

A 25-year-old man from Woolhampton has been convicted of burglary.

William Leer, of Bath Road, was charged and convicted yesterday (19/6) with one count of burglary dwelling.

Leer pleaded guilty to the offence and has been remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court for sentencing. The date for sentencing is to be confirmed.

Leer stole jewellery and a passport from a house in Goring Lane, Grazeley Green Reading on Thursday June 18.

Paul Beasley from Newbury police station said: “Thanks to the quick thinking of the homeowner and rapid police response, the offender was quickly detained and arrested.

“Domestic burglary is a distressing and devastating rime which can have a significant impact on the whole family. These types of offences are a high priority and we will continue to investigate them to the highest possible standard and set about bringing those responsible to justice.”
