Woolhampton school book week hosts a cast of characters
Pupils at Elstree School, Woolhampton, were asked to dress up as a fictional or non-fictional character from their favourite publication as part of the school’s book week.
Educationalist, journalist and pioneering wall book creator, Christopher Lloyd, also stopped by during the week to talk to pupils about reading and writing.
His What on Earth? wallbook can be read it like a book or displayed on a wall. It contains 13.7 billion years of history in a timeline which is just more than seven feet long and features more than 1,000 pictures.
School librarian and organiser of the book week, Carol Botterill said: “Our pupils have really entered into the spirit of book week and have had lots of fun with dressing up in costume and of course, meeting a real live author is a very exciting experience for them.
“Book week gives us a perfect opportunity to encourage our pupils to enjoy reading for pleasure, explore the library and to even start writing themselves.”
