Work on two key West Berkshire roads to start today (Mon)
Temporary traffic lights and manual stop and go signs will be installed on Love Lane, Donnington, to allow for the removal of speed bumps and kerb work.
It is likely to cause disruption in the morning rush hour, with parents and staff trying to access Trinity School, Castle School and Shaw-cum-Donnington Primary, as well as those travelling to Vodafone headquarters.
The traffic control will be in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm, until May 4.
New pedestrian crossing points will then be built during the May half-term break, between Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, June 1.In addition, road resurfacing will close Love Lane to traffic altogether from Monday, April 7, to Friday, April 11, between 8am and 5pm.
The council is asking motorists to make alternative arrangements for vehicles usually parked on the road, to which access is required during working hours, and has requested that deliveries be arranged outside of these times.
Refuse and recycling collections will still take place, however timings may vary. Residents are asked to ensure the relevant bins are placed outside by 7am.
Work on the loop of Bowling Green Road to the west of Gordon Road also starts on Monday, closing it until Friday, April 11.
This is so contractors on behalf of Southern Gas Networks can replace gas connections on the narrow sections of the road. A diversion will be in place via Gordon Road.
Although scheduled for two weeks, the council said work may finish earlier.
