#WOW award for Peasemore business

The “one-pot” children’s ready-meal company was launched onto online superstore Ocado by mum-of-two Kate Finch in March this year, prompted by her experience of becoming a stay at home mum.
“I had been home for a couple of months and felt like I was running some sort of cafe,” said the trained chef, aged 43.
“There are a lot of options for people weaning babies. I thought ‘isn’t there anything out there for children of this age?’
“It was a business born out of circumstance.”
In September, Junior’s Pantry was recognised by underwear mogul Jacqueline Gold, chief executive of Ann Summers and Knickerbox, in the #WOW competition which she holds via Twitter every Wednesday for female business owners.
“I always look for a company that shows originality and has captured the needs of a market. Junior’s Pantry is a fantastic example of this,” said Ms Gold.
“The product is unique and I wish Junior’s Pantry continued success for the future.”
The award has brought with it a stream of recognition for Junior’s Pantry, revealed Mrs Finch, who said it’s social-media sites had “gone mad” in the subsequent weeks.
“It gives you that exposure that perhaps you wouldn’t have had before,” she said, adding she was thrilled to have received the award.
But this is not the first time a celebrity entrepreneur has picked Junior’s Pantry out from the crowd. Just two months before renowned BBC Dragon, Theo Paphitis promoted the company in his weekly Small Business Sunday award, ‘retweeting’ Junior’s Pantry to his quarter of a million followers.
In the same month, Junior’s Pantry ranked at number 83 of the year’s top 100 start-up businesses on startups.co.uk.
“It’s lovely to have the recognition,” she said. “It’s affirmation of Junior’s Pantry being a good idea and people recognising that.”
She added plans are in the pipeline to get Junior’s Pantry meals into national supermarkets next year.
