The Royal Oak in Yattendon donates to West Berkshire Toy Appeal
One pub is making sure local children receive a present this Christmas.
The Royal Oak pub in Yattendon invited customers to take a tag from its Christmas tree, buy a gift and return it unwrapped in aid of the annual West Berkshire Toy Appeal – now in its 16th year.
Staff received overwhelming local support, amassing a varied selection of toys for different ages and genders. Pub staff delivered the toys on Monday, December 19, enabling more underprivileged children to receive a toy this Christmas.
Pub worker Alicia Batten said: "We got this all together in just two weeks. Everyone donated, including the staff.
"We are very grateful to everyone who supported us."
The Christmas tree star was donated by The Old Forge Florist, Yattendon.
Local families and carers can claim vouchers for presents until December 23 from West Berkshire Council, The Community Furniture Project and other venues. Please contact the Santa hotline on (01635) 571703 if you think you are eligible and wish to collect a voucher for someone in your care.
