Young photographers line up work for competition

The three contestants, Sam Buxcey, aged 18, Sarah Hutt, aged 15, and Toby Brown, aged 12, displayed their pictures and discussed their interpretations of this year’s theme, ‘Peace’, with the Mayor of Newbury, Arthur Johnson, who said there was a fantastic array of photographs on display.
President of the Newbury Rotary Club, Roy Wood, said: “It’s wonderful to see thay we have such great talent in our midst and to see just how it has caught the imagination of our youngsters in the local community.”
This is the first time that the Newbury Rotary Club has participated in the competition and has been sponsored by the The Newbury Weekly News, Adam Hillier Photography and Andrew Fleming Photography.
Final judging will take place on April 5 and the winners will receive their awards at the Donnington Spa Hotel on April 15 where they will be entered into the Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI) National Young Photographer Competition.
The photographs will be on display at Newbury Library until April 10 and all photographs entered into the competition can also be viewed on Facebook at NewburyRotary.YoungPhotographer.
