Youngsters offered firefighting skills

Under the watch of firefighters young people aged between 12 and 16 take part in fire service activities, including hose drills and fire safety awareness sessions while building life skills, self-discipline and leadership.
Young Firefighter Courtney Fowler, aged 14, said: “I really like Young Firefighters because I enjoy all the activities we do, it’s lots of fun and I’ve made new friends too.”
Instructor Lee Glover said: “At Young Firefighters, you’ll learn useful skills, make new friends and have fun at the same time. We often have waiting lists to join but a lot of our Young Firefighters have recently graduated from the programme, which means we have spaces at all of our units from the autumn term onwards. Why not get in touch to find out more and see if Young Firefighters is for you?”
There are Young Firefighter units at Hungerford, which meet every Thursday from 7pm-9pm, and Whitley Wood, which runs sessions on Wednesdays from the same times.
Hungerford currently has four spaces and Whitley Wood has six vacancies.
