Newbury singer songwriter Zoe Badman on the up with debut single
NEWBURY-based singer songwriter Zoe Badman has recently released her debut single Backbone, a blend of soul, blues, pop and rock, after performing her originals to much acclaim around the country, building up an exciting reputation as a live performer on vocals and guitar.
With the track already getting air time on BBC radio stations and hitting no 3 in the blues streaming charts, Zoe is “over the moon” to be getting such positive feedback after nearly two years in the recording process.
Her music is being released this summer in a “drip feed fashion” and features some of the top session musicians in the UK, including Bill Banwell on bass (Rag’n’Bone Man, Joss Stone, Hoosiers, Pink, Kelis), who wrote the iconic bass line to the No 1 platinum hit Human.
Paul Jordanous on Keys and Trumpet (Rag’n’Bone Man, Yolanda Brown, Joss Stone, Pink etc). Leo Appleyard on guitar, Bubu Otis on drums, Jon Bird on trumpet and Matt McNaughton who features with a spine-tingling sax solo midway through Backbone.
Following the second single release of Roots in April, Zoe performed her first headline release show at the Half Moon in Putney, which was a huge success. This included the full band and support from JOP, an exciting project blended with some of the biggest session musicians and guest singers, and Max White who has also supported Rag’n’Bone Man and more recently McFly.
Footage can be found on YouTube for her first official music video to Roots which also hit no 10 in the reggae streaming charts.
Among all of this Zoe has recently embarked on a UK tour with the leading Bruce Springsteen tribute band Sound of Springsteen.
Previously she has also supported Dodgy and played with the likes of Newton Faulkner and recently hit a new height in her career when supporting US artist Kelis along, with Gabrielle, who was also in the line-up.
Zoe is loving every minute of her music journey and is “so excited and humbled with the surprises it throws” at her as every part leads to a new experience she could only dreamed of as a child. She has worked hard to get to this point.
Zoe also loves to share music with other aspiring musicians and music lovers, so she is hosting a new open mic in the Club Bar and Lounge Newbury on the first Friday of every month where she is happy to answer any questions and support all emerging artists and anyone who wants to have a go and get creative.
