Newbury's MP has had the Conservative whip withdrawn after rebelling against the Government last night. Was he right?

Westminster Blog: Upping the Brexit tempo

Yes, it was the right thing to do to try to stop a no-deal Brexit.

No, it's ignoring the will of the people expressed in the 2016 EU Referendum.

I don't know.

The problem with this poll "the will of the people" statement! What the will of the people was in 2016 has absolutely nothing to with the current situation. A narrow vote was in favour of all the promised goodies of leaving the EU. Now we know all the promises were in fact lies, the most bold of which came from the current PM,, it is not possible to assume that the will of the people is still in favour of dogs dinner we are being offered in place of the unicorn of 2016.

Richard Benyon voted to prevent a no deal Brexit, which is what Boris said was a one in a million chance. If Boris meant that, why is there a problem with Richard voting in line with Boris's promise?

I disagree with Benyon on many things, but I have to respect that he decided to put his constituents and the country before his own parliamentary career.
