A huge turnover at Monks Lane

Blues stage superb rally but Salisbury spread the gap a little wider

NEWBURY BLUES staged a stunning comeback to beat Maidenhead 25-20 at Monks Lane, a day after April Fool's Day, after trailing 17-3 with 25 minutes to go but replying with some sexy rugby.

But again Blues could make no progress in the table following an outstanding result as play-off rivals Salisbury swamped Windsor 52-21 on their own turf to go six points clear of Blues with only three matches to play.

Thatcham suffered a survival setback in Southern Counties North when losing 36-12 at home to high-flying Aylesbury, although they remain outside the bottom two with two matches to go, while Tadley Tigers had a walkover against Wheatley in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier Division and Hungerford beat Chipping Norton 48-7 to move clear of the relegation places.
