A quick chance for revenge
FOOTBALL: Leaders hold six point advantage: Thatcham bid for a league double
HUNGERFORD Town take a quick revenge trip to Yate Town on Saturday to tackle the side that knocked the out of the FA Trophy last week.
That defeat capped Hungerford's only 'down' week of the season so far, but they bounced back on Tuesday night when Matt Day headed the winner in a 1-0 home league win over Tiverton Town that keeps Hungerford six points clear at the head of the table.
Now Hungerford are hoping to put right their 2-1 defeat at Yate. "They will be confident having beaten us last week," said manager Bobby Wilkinson.
"But I rested some players for that game, and they will be back this week."
They will be joined by new signing Scott Griffin after the 32-year old striker made the switch from league rivals Abingdon United this week.
THATCHAM TOWN are looking for a double when they entertain Bridgwater Town on Saturday, having won 3-1 in Somerset last month.
Mark Hughes, sent off against North Leigh in last week's FA Trophy win, is available, but striker Jemel Johnson is a doubt with a heel injury.
NEWBURY go to Wantage Town tonight to play a re-scheuiled Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup tie but hopes of re-arranging a league game for Saturday have failed and Newbury - already playing catch-up in the Hellenic League's Division One East - face a potential spell of only three league games in seven weeks due to cup commitments.
