Ackling happy with derby draw

Thatcham Town boss, Gary Ackling, was the happier of the two managers after the draw with Hungerford Town

THATCHAM TOWN manager Gary Ackling was much happier with his lot after the midweek draw at Hungerford.

"It was a good point for us," he said, "but it was really two dropped for them.

"I knew my boys would give 100 per cent and that's what they did."

It means that Thatcham travel to Cinderford Town on Saturday on the back of a run of only one defeat in six matches

"That can only breed confidence," said Ackling, who has full back Paul Taplin available to him again after a five-match suspension, although he is likely to give him a run-out in the reserves to get back to match fitness.

Thatcham's midweek action is away to Bishops Cleeve on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Newbury will bid to boost their Hellenic League Division One East promotion push at Farnborough Town Reserves on Saturday.
