All the threes in triathlon and tennis




SPORT: Newbury triathletes splash aruond the course - Harwell make it a winnikng treble

TRIATHLON: BIRMINGHAM university's Andrew Robbins won the annual Newbury Triathlon when he finished more than three minutes clear of the field in Sunday's event based on Northcroft.

He clocked 56 minutes 26 seconds for the 300 metre swim, 20 kilometre ride and 5 kilometre run rto beat Andover Tri Club's Shaun Green into seocnd psot in 59.43.

The next two places went to local triathletes however, Team Kennet's Tom Milburn was third in 1 hour 1 min 45 seconds, just under a minute ahead of Banjo Cycles' Martyn Harris at the front of the pack, with Harris putting in the fastest cycling leg of 33 minutes 22 seconds.

TENNIS: HARWELLL Laboratory made it a winning hat-trick when they claimed the Newbury Lawn Tennis Association's Yorkshire Cup for the third successive year on Sunday.

Their team of Debra and Matt Davies, Alice Atkins and Alex Wingent beat Bucklebury in the final of the handicap tournament, the same line-up that accounted for Yattendon in 2009 and Kintbury last year.
