It was another action-packed weekend for some of our teams in West Berkshire with plenty of fixtures taking place.

Newbury Blues celebrated their 25th year anniversary of rugby at Monks Lane as they beat Beaconsfield 33-7 on Saturday.

Blues raced into a 14-0 lead at half-time, before extending that in the second-half to secure their sixth victory of the South West 1 East season.

In the Newbury Sunday League, Bucklebury cruised to a 7-0 win over Cottage Inn to extend their lead at the top of the Premier Division.

Meanwhile, AFC Aldermaston suffered a 5-2 home defeat to Wallingford Town in Division 1 of the Combined Counties League on Saturday.

There was a local derby at Henwick in the hockey league as Newbury & Thatcham Ladies 2nd came up against South Berkshire 2nd.

Helen Vaughan-Graham scored the only goal of the game as Newbury ran out 1-0 winners.

Elsewhere, there was a full schedule of fixtures in the Newbury netball league.
